There are probably hundreds and perhaps thousands of remedies promising to reverse or slow down the aging process. Some of these products may have good theorectal evidence that they may in fact work. The proof is obviously in the results which maybe much harder to prove. They also will take a long time to prove as they follow people throught the aging process. Not all will work, so if you want to live a long time listen up.
I believe nature reveals the secrets to a lot of true remedies if we pay attention to the clues it leaves. The pharmaceutical companies know this to be true so they study and look for clues in 3rd world countries where tribes still live off the land and use natural remedies to cure their health problems. If they can find the clue, then they can make a new drug and make more money.
One such clue was noted by Dr Gustavo Bounous in his research on whey protein isolate and the longevity of mice. In a contolled experiment at McGill University,Montreal, Canada, the researchers compared the glutathione levels and longevity of mice fed with a bioactive whey protein isolate, later trademarked as Immunocal, to those mice fed a standard diet. Not only did the whey protein mice have higher glutathione levels, they also lived 30% longer. Later experiments with regular whey protein neither raised glutathione levels or increased longevity.
In the past year, Health Canada has approved the health claim that Immunocal or HMS 90 as its is known in Canada does, in fact, raise glutathione. Could it be that the answer to longevity was found in a product that beforehand had no obvious use so it was dumped in rivers and streams to get rid of it.

Chemical in Plastic is Connected to Health Problems in Monkeys
Chemical in Plastic Is Connected to Health Problems in Monkeys
By Lyndsey LaytonWashington Post Staff Writer Thursday, September 4, 2008;
Researchers at the Yale School of Medicine have linked a chemical found in everyday plastics to problems with brain function and mood disorders in monkeys -- the first time the chemical has been connected to health problems in primates.
The study is the latest in an accumulation of research that has raises concerns about bisphenol A, or BPA, a compound that gives a shatterproof quality to polycarbonate plastic and has been found to leach from plastic into food and water.
The Yale study comes as federal toxicologists yesterday reaffirmed an earlier draft report finding that there is "some concern" that bisphenol A can cause developmental problems in the brain and hormonal systems of infants and children.
"There remains considerable uncertainty whether the changes seen in the animal studies are directly applicable to humans, and whether they would result in clear adverse health effects," John R. Bucher, associate director of the National Toxicology Program, said in a statement. "But we have concluded that the possibility that BPA may affect human development cannot be dismissed."

Whey Protein Isolate
Many milk derivatives and whey products exist on the market place for health conscious individuals. These products are extremely variable in their protein content, their concentration, the amount of denaturization (damage to the original protein structure), the actual types of proteins present, and other factors which play important roles in the effectiveness of the product. (i.e. concentration of protein, types of protein, fat content, lactose content, bioavailablity, biological activity)Immunocal is a protein isolate.
Whey protein "isolates" are the purist form, being 90 to 98% protein with negligible fat and lactose per serving. Whereas whey protein "concentrates" usually contain between 70 to 75% protein with signifant levels of fats, lactose and often many toxins that accompany these. Immunocal contains sub families of proteins with the highest levels of glutathione precursors (building blocks) available. The unique way that Immunotec extracts these proteins intact (undenatured) in their natural form accounts for our ability to deliver high levels of cystine and cysteine to the cell.
It was Dr G. Bounous who first described the importance of keeping these fragile proteins. These techniques are not employed by other manufacturers whose products have been seriously degraded by the time they reach your body. Notice that you will generally not find any warningsagainst heating other proteins, because they are most often already seriously broken down.

Health and Wellness By Jennifer Thew RN
Health and wellness are usually considered to be one and the same. If someone is sick, we say he or she is not doing "well." And we take kids to their well-child visits to keep them "healthy." The words health and wellness often are used interchangeably to mean there is an absence of illness or disease.I had a similar view of health and wellness until I attended the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing's annual conference in April, where I heard Sharon Thompson, RN, present her WellCare model of nursing. After hearing her speak, my mind was opened to a new way of thinking about these two states of being. In Thompson's model, health and wellness are two very different things, and they don't necessarily go hand in hand. One can be healthy but not well, and vice versa. For example, we've all met what I call "chronically crabby" people. They always have something to complain about and have a pessimistic view about life. Yet these people don't always have physical illnesses. Their blood pressure is normal, they don't have diabetes, and they are able to run marathons. They can be in perfect health; however, if we look at them using the WellCare model, they won't qualify as well because they are not enjoying life.Wellness, as Thompson explained, is related to quality of life and the support systems a person has in place. Take a patient battling cancer. She might be too tired to drive herself to her child's soccer games, so a friend offers to drive her there. She might not be considered healthy because of the cancer, but her level of wellness could actually be quite high because she has the support of her friends and with their help can continue to do what she enjoys.Thompson explained that health is often passive. It's something that happens to you. People can eat right and exercise, but sometimes they still develop heart disease. But wellness is much more active. It's something you can work toward by developing those support systems and doing things you enjoy.I found Thompson's explanation of wellness inspiring. To me, it seemed like something that could help patients cope when they were experiencing health problems. If nurses can discover what brings their patients joy and satisfaction in life, they can help them face their situations with hope. They might have health issues, but they can find success being well while they manage their health. And, hopefully, with the help of nurses, they will achieve both health AND wellness.Jennifer Thew, RN, BSN, MSJ, editorial director of the Greater Chicago and Heartland editions of Nursing Spectrum/NurseWeek.
Grapes and Red Wine

- A compound found in grapes and red wine has been seen to help with age-related health concerns, a new Harvard study has found. When studied on lab mice, the compound, known as resveratrol provided heart benefits, enabling stronger bones and preventing eye cataracts; researchers said on Thursday.David Sinclair of Harvard Medical School and Rafael de Cabo of the National Institute on Aging placed 1-year-old mice on low-calorie diets and high-calorie diets along with low or high resveratrol doses. The higher resveratrol and higher-calorie diets had similar effects to low-calorie diets and low-resveratrol diets in terms of health benefits. The general health and vigor of mice on a long-term regimen (approximately one year) of resveratrol improved overall, without apparent side effects. However, only mice consuming resveratrol alongside a high-calorie diet were found to actually live longer, Health Day news reports.Although daily consumption of the compound broadly improved the long-term quality of life of middle-aged mice, most mice did not end up living longer. They published their results in the July 3 online issue of Cell Metabolism.Overall, the animals' health improved under all dietary conditions, as reflected by a reduction of osteoporosis, cataracts, vascular dysfunction and declines in motor coordination. Resveratrol is also found in the skin of grapes and the crust of peanuts and walnuts.

Press Release Re Autism Pre Lim Study
Oral Tolerability of Cysteine-Rich Protein Isolate (Immunocal) in Autism - A Pilot StudyThursday August 28, 1:49 pm ET
MONTREAL, Aug. 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Immunotec Inc. announced today the completion of an open-label clinical trial on the use of a cysteine-rich protein isolate in children with autism. Ten children, 3-15 years of age with a diagnosis of autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), were supplemented with a non-denatured whey protein isolate (Immunocal(R)). Autism symptoms, behavior, side effects, and treatment adherence were examined, as well as bowel flora. This preliminary study showed the majority of autistic children were able to consume non-denatured whey protein isolate (Immunocal(R)) without adverse effects. Changes in all behavioural parameters showed positive trends but did not reach statistical significance because of the small numbers of patients in this pilot study. The results will provide the basis for a larger placebo controlled double blind study to test the benefits of using whey protein isolate in the treatment of autism. (Kern JK, Grannemann BD, Gutman J, Trivedi MH, Oral Tolerability of Cysteine-Rich Whey Protein Isolate in Autism - A Pilot Study, Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association (JANA), Vol. 11, No. 1, 36-41, 2008.)
Recent evidence suggests that many children with autism have low levels of glutathione in their cells. Non-denatured whey protein can improve glutathione levels in a variety of diseases and disorders; however, there are anecdotal reports that children with autism may have a worsening of behavior, gastrointestinal (GI) disturbance or related problems after the ingestion of sulfur-rich compounds.
Principle investigator Dr. Janet Kern stated, "We're very optimistic about these pilot results, it makes us very comfortable to pursue larger and longer-term studies using this strategy."
Immunotec President and CEO Jim Northrop is pleased with these initial results. "Completion of this pilot study will encourage researchers to move on to the next step of studying the role and benefits of our cysteine-rich protein (Immunocal) in children with autistic spectrum disorder. I am proud of Immunotec's commitment to ongoing research and development that continues to validate the confidence and quality in our products."

Product Value
Product Value
Too often product value is interpreted to mean low price or competitive pricing. Value as it relates to products should almost certainly include the fact that the products do what they say they do and that they work for you. If you are selling soap on a rope, it might be a nice looking soap which you can hang conveniently in your shower stall, but if it doesn't do the job of cleaning you up, it's not much good. No matter how cheap this soap may be, it's still a waste of money. The most expensive shoes you will ever buy are the ones you never wear. On the other hand, shoes that could be considered expensive, say $125, if worn almost everyday, could be the cheapest shoes you've ever worn.
When it comes to health food, vitamins and minerals and such, true value is really important. It is common knowledge that some vitamins and mineral products are actually useless because there's nothing of value in them. So no matter how cheap they are, they are really expensive. Proactive consumers can usually sniff out the duds fairly quickly with a little research. For example, if you are evaluating an online health and wellness business and all they talk about is the money you make, it should make you wonder about lack of product information. Maybe there's nothing of real value in the product? It should certainly force you to question their priorities.
On the other hand, serious health and wellness opportunities often are focused on cutting edge science that may not be all that easy to understand especially for lay people. The important point here is the crediblity of the science and the people behind the product. It's important that these two elements are in place but not that you understand all the science. How many people know why aspirin works? How many people take cholesterol drugs who understand how they work? How many people know all about how their car actually works? Does this stop them from driving?
"Buyer beware" is an extremely important axiom that can sometimes get temporarily forgotten when there's a lot of hype. Smoke and mirrors can sometimes cloud your vision and clutter your thinking, but sooner or later, true product value matters. As the saying goes "you can fool some of the people all of the time, some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people, all of the time." Some business like to say that the management system or the business deveopment system is more important than the products. Products are the cornerstone of any business, especially health care products. Sure business systems can make or break the success of a company but a business system based on questionable products is doomed to failure. Sooner or later, product value (credibility) matters. Your body will tell you.
