Health and Wellness: Glutathione and Aging

There are probably hundreds and perhaps thousands of remedies promising to reverse or slow down the aging process. Some of these products may have good theorectal evidence that they may in fact work. The proof is obviously in the results which maybe much harder to prove. They also will take a long time to prove as they follow people throught the aging process. Not all will work, so if you want to live a long time listen up.

I believe nature reveals the secrets to a lot of true remedies if we pay attention to the clues it leaves. The pharmaceutical companies know this to be true so they study and look for clues in 3rd world countries where tribes still live off the land and use natural remedies to cure their health problems. If they can find the clue, then they can make a new drug and make more money.

One such clue was noted by Dr Gustavo Bounous in his research on whey protein isolate and the longevity of mice. In a contolled experiment at McGill University,Montreal, Canada, the researchers compared the glutathione levels and longevity of mice fed with a bioactive whey protein isolate, later trademarked as Immunocal, to those mice fed a standard diet. Not only did the whey protein mice have higher glutathione levels, they also lived 30% longer. Later experiments with regular whey protein neither raised glutathione levels or increased longevity.
In the past year, Health Canada has approved the health claim that Immunocal or HMS 90 as its is known in Canada does, in fact, raise glutathione. Could it be that the answer to longevity was found in a product that beforehand had no obvious use so it was dumped in rivers and streams to get rid of it.
